Update my location

BigDataCloud uses an evidence-based approach to IP geolocation, combining data from multiple sources and updating daily. In most cases our system will already have an accurate picture of where an IP address is located. But if you believe your location is wrong, there are a few ways to help us improve it.

For network operators (ISPs and ASNs)

If you manage an IP range and want to ensure accurate geolocation for your users, the most effective path is to publish a geofeed or work with us directly. Our guide on best practices for ISPs and ASNs covers everything you need to know.

For individual users

If your IP address is showing the wrong location, you can help by sharing your device's location while connected to the network in question. We use this anonymously to improve accuracy. There are two ways to do this.

Option 1: via our website

You need to do this while connected to the network you want to update — our system uses your current IP address to match the location you share.

  1. Visit our What is my IP page.
  2. When prompted, allow your browser to share your location. This uses your browser's built-in geolocation or your device's GPS.
  3. If you don't see the prompt, you may have already shared your location previously, or you may have denied it. To re-enable it, click the padlock in your browser's address bar and set Location to Allow.
  4. Updates are reflected across our network within 24 hours.

Option 2: via our mobile app

Download our app on a device connected to the network you want to update, then enable the IPv4 Mapper feature and accept the location permission. Your location is shared anonymously and updates within 24 hours.
